Paris, the city of love, has almost everything. Daily chaos in the rush hour, for example. To get around it, the Paris transport services have ordered 350 MAN city buses — bringing the total of MAN vehicles in use to 760. Each of these ultra-modern buses is powered by a 250 hp engine with MAN Pure Diesel technology, voluntarily fulfilling the most stringent EEV exhaust emission standard. Thus minimizing traffic on the streets as well as emissions.

Paris public transport system RATP’s newest buses, 350 Lion’s City models from MAN, are perfectly equipped for high traffic volumes. The two-door buses offer seating and standing for around 100 people, including space for a wheelchair.
An upright, six-cylinder 6.8 liter common rail diesel engine provides efficient drive. As with all MAN bus engines, the 250 hp engine with MAN Pure Diesel® technology fulfils the voluntary EEV emission standard without additional additives. Modern automatic gearboxes with topography-dependant software save a greater percentage of fuel when compared with standard gearboxes. As a result, the new buses not only reduce traffic on the streets but also minimize emissions.
Additional driver and passenger safety is also taken care of in the MAN buses. An attack-proof driver compartment is as much a part of the equipment as the elaborate video monitoring with four cameras.
With the new delivery, MAN will have provided a total of 760 vehicles (18.5%) of the entire RATP fleet and established itself as the Parisian company’s largest importer. In 2008, RATP ordered 186 modern articulated buses of the low floor city type from the MAN Lion’s City range, introducing a number of them on the prestigious route from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to the Paris Opera. In the previous year, 15 new Lion’s City G buses with translucent bellows from supplier ContiTech were delivered – a system that also makes the new buses brighter and friendlier inside.
Bus transportation is an important cost factor for every city. Here too, MAN has a lot to offer. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge makes a significant contribution to a continual increase in transportation efficiency. MAN offers a comprehensive program for reducing overall operating costs (total costs of ownership). Transportation efficiency bundled in the fields of technology, service, driver and future expertise preserves the environment and creates added value for MAN customers.
