Why do nine out of eighteen German soccer league clubs travel MAN? Because they can be sure that they’ll travel in comfort and — more importantly — arrive on time. Like reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund and the record-winning champions from FC Bayern München. With 480 hp and weighing 25 tons, the luxury coach has everything on board that a top soccer league player needs – and, as such, is in a league of its own.

Since the 2008/2009 German soccer season, an exclusive MAN Lion’s Coach L Supreme has brought the FC Bayern Munich boss and his team safely and relaxingly to their match venues. The coach is part of a comprehensive premium sponsorship package for FC Bayern Munich by the Munich-based MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group.
The current Lion’s Coach Supreme model is one of the most successful coaches in MAN’s history. A 480 hp common rail diesel engine provides efficient drive and – with MAN Pure Diesel® technology – fulfils the required emission standard without additional additives. The extensive safety equipment on board the record-winning team’s coach includes ABS, ESP and the lane guard system LGS, xenon headlamps, front and rear drive cameras, and an alarm system.
The interior goes well beyond the already comprehensive standard. Making the trips even more comfortable are four retractable tables complete with electrically adjustable leg rests, 30 exclusive leather seats, a sound system, four 19” TFT screens, a DVD system, WLAN preparation and, of course, satellite TV. A built-in kitchen enables on-board catering; there’s even an emergency generator on board to ensure permanent readiness.
What sounds like luxury is, for the team, an efficient way of preparing for work. Thanks to the relaxing journey, the sportsmen can deliver optimal performance on the pitch – an advantage that the current champions from Dortmund discovered long ago. A total of nine out of eighteen German soccer league clubs travel in team coaches from MAN – and travel exceedingly well in them.
Internationally, MAN coaches also enjoy great popularity – with sportsmen and supporters alike. 110 intercity buses from the MAN Lion’s Explorer range were employed as ‘general spectator buses’ at the last FIFA Soccer World Cup in South Africa. They transported the world’s soccer fans to the World Cup games at the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg and have been used in the public transportation system since then.
Brazil is not just a soccer-mad country, but also a land of long distances. Which is why the players from the 15 largest soccer teams in the giant country also travel MAN – just like the Brazilian national team, whose coach even has a bathroom on board.
Proving that sport and MAN don’t just belong together on long distances are the team coaches for Arsenal, Liverpool und Newcastle Utd and the Swiss national team, which travels in a modified Neoplan Starliner.
The FC Bayern Munich team coach – just one example of what MAN can move.
MAN. Engineering the Future — since 1758.
